Le Freestyle ou Shannon Sound est un est un sous-genre musical de Dance-pop créé à New York en 1983 avec le “Let The Music Play” de SHANNON. Outre les boites à rythmes de la Dance-Pop, on y trouve des instruments latins modifiés, comme les cariocas synthétisés. Il s’agit aussi de la prolongation plus pop de l’Electro-funk. On remarque aussi un cousinage avec le Post-Disco.
