Une musique arty construite sur une évolution de rythmes et d’ambiances
La Progressive Music, le Progressive Rock ou Rock Progressif est un genre musical créé en 1967 à Barnes dans le Grand Londres en Angleterre aux Studios Olympic lors de l’enregistrement de l’album “The Thoughts of Emerlist Davjack” des NICE.

Des sous-genres à géométries distantes
La Progressive Music donne de multiples sous-genres, comme la Progressive Pop ou le Wagnerian Rock souvent attribué à MEAT LOAF et à BONNIE TYLER. Fin 1982, apparait la Neo Prog en Grande Bretagne avec MARILLION et PENDRAGON. Enfin, il existe le genre fusion de Progressive Metal qui allie la Prog au Heavy Metal à partir de 1984. Pour conclure, les grands artisanats de Progressive Music KING CRIMSON inventent en 1981 un nouveau son Progressiste plus influencés par les travaux de BRIAN ENO, BILL LASWELL et bien sur de ROBERT FRIPP. Il s’agit du Post-prog, plus complexe, plus influencé par le Krautrock et de certains jazz fusions.
